As we come to the end of the Spring Term here's an update on our activities and what's to come next half-term.
Schools White Paper and SEND Reform - Have your Say!
On the 23rd February 2026 the Government published the long-awaited Schools White Paper: Every Child Achieving and Thriving.
Alongside this, a consultation document SEND Reform: Putting Children and Young People First sets out proposals to reform the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) system.
The consultation is open until 18 May 2026, and this is your opportunity to share your views.

Join Our Engagement Sessions
We are hosting three in-person sessions to gather your feedback and help shape our response:
- Tuesday 21 April – The Acorn Centre, Wokingham, RG41 3DR
- Monday 27 April – The Oakwood Centre, Woodley, RG5 4JZ
- Wednesday 6 May – Radstock Community Centre, Earley, RG6 5UZ
Time: 7:00pm – 9:30pm (all sessions will cover the same content)

PINS Project Update - (Partnership for the Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools)
This half-term marked the final phase of the PINS project.
During this time, we delivered 15 in-school engagement sessions and hosted 2 online sessions for parent carers. We are pleased to share that we received very positive feedback from both parent carers and schools.
We are currently preparing a summary of the project and its outcomes, which will be shared in the summer term.
A big thank you to everyone who attended a session at their school or joined us online, your input has been invaluable.

Highlights of our Recent Work
Here are some of the other ways we've been supporting and influencing local SEND services:
Attended key meetings, including the SEND Strategic Partnership Board, SEND Assurance Board, Wokingham Wellbeing Board, Children & Young Peoples Partnership Board and Best Start Early Help Steering Group
Hosted our SEND Coffee Morning alongside the SENDIASS drop-in sessions every fortnight at Wokingham Youth Centre
We attended the Berkshire Neurodivergent Transformation Programme Board meeting, as well as a local area meeting, to discuss the development of a multi-disciplinary team to support this work.
Continue to raise concerns about wheelchair services.
Hosted the EHCP and Annual Review training for parent carers in partnership with SENDIASS
Dates for Next Half-Term
SEND Coffee Mornings & SENDIASS Drop-ins
We host a coffee morning alongside the SENDIASS drop-in sessions every fortnight at Wokingham Youth Centre, 35 Reading Road, Wokingham RG41 1EG from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
SEND Voices Wokingham will be there to offer a cuppa, a chat and opportunity to connect with other families.
Parents and carers can also speak one-to-one with a SENDIASS advisor. No appointment is needed - sessions run on a first-come, first-served basis, with appointments usually lasting around 20 minutes.

EHCP Process ~ A Parent's Guide
(for those going through the EHCP process for the first time)
